Hi.

The difference is that a backlog should be an actively managed set of stories that are going to be developed, whereas a feature request list is a hold place for ideas. Some of the ideas will make their way into the backlog, when they are selected, but many ideas will sit on the feature request list for a long period of time, waiting for the day when you need to improve the product in a way that the feature can deliver.

The feature request list is a way of storing all the ideas, but once they’re written down, you can leave them until they are needed. Your backlog will be refined regularly and the features actually delivered.
